Sprinkler

Since it's been getting warmer in the afternoons, Cole has been playing with water in our back yard. Sometimes it's his mini-pool, sometimes it just the water hose and sometimes it's a sprinkler. He loves them all.

He starts out by just looking at the sprinkler; sizing it up if you will.

He tests the water temperature.

Then he gets a little closer letting the water rain down on him.

Then he runs as fast as he can out of the sprinkler and toward Mommy. (It turns into a game.)

After he's gotten use to the water, he picks up the sprinkler and brings it to Mommy. Mommy runs because she's not dressed to get wet. Cole laughs, drops the sprinkler and runs to Mommy to give a huge wet hug. I gotta say, I love this game.

Master of the Playground

The playground.

Cole has recently mastered the playground. He no longer needs Mommy's assistance getting on the play gym or going down the slides. He can do it all. Yesterday Cole and I got to visit Marianne and Jasmine at their local playground. Cole was all over the place, exploring, climbing, running, sliding, etc. (Sorry I didn't take any pictures.) It was so fun and the weather has been so nice, Cole and I decided to go to our own playground this morning. He had a blast (so did I).

The ramp to get onto the slides.

The short blue slide.

The tall red bumpy slide.

Peek-a-boo, "Mommy where are you?"

Running down the hill.

Taking a break.

Abstract Artist

Yesterday, Cole got to have Lyric over for a play date. I decided that it would be fun if the kiddos got to finger paint. I teetered back and forth about using real finger paint or food products like mustard, ketchup, pudding, etc. The finger paint seemed to clean up pretty well and dried fairly quickly in the sun so we used it.
Both kids seemed to have a grand time. Lyric (a year older than Cole) took her time and made a masterpiece. Cole dove right in and let his creative juices flow. He had no fear of smearing the paint around and getting covered with it. Great artists have their own unique style.

This is Cole's masterpiece. I'm such a proud Mama. I think it's beautiful.
Finger painting is a lot of fun. I think we'll be doing this again real soon.

Through the Gift of a Child

I have been taught more through the gift of my son than I could have ever learned otherwise. More about my relationship with God. More about love. More about myself. Just more. Cole has been such a blessing in my life. I almost can't remember what life was like before him, nor do I want to. I am so engulfed by him. This Mother's Day finally felt real. I am a mother. I am truly blessed. Thank you God!

Crawfish Boil

This weekend we had our 1st Annual Boudreaux Crawfish Boil & Backyard Bash. It was a hoot. Kudos to My Love and his Dad for boiling some really tasty crawfish. Cole had a blast playing with some of his friends and getting to be "king" for a day with his Aunts and Cousins. He even said "crawfish" for the first time that day. Thank you to all of you who came, ate and had a good time. We enjoyed your company. Also, thanks to all who helped and brought yummy goodies to eat while waiting on the crawfish to be boiled. Here are a few pics from the event:

Pure Fun

Cole and April have become quite the duo these days. As long as Cole is in possession of a ball, April wants to play. Cole takes his green ball, "hides" it from April in the chair, April "finds" it, Cole grabs it, runs down the hall around the living room, throws the ball back down the hall toward the playroom and starts the "game" all over again. They can do this until they are both worn out, sweaty and breathing pretty hard. The other day they played this game for at least 20 minutes. It was great. When the duo gets tired of the first game they resort to a traditional game of tug-of-war. This game does not go over very well with whoever does not end up with the ball but it continues to be one of their favorites.

When Cole needs a break and some time to rest he comes to Mommy and asks me to read to him. I love reading to Cole (even if it's the same book over and over all day long. :) ) As he sits on my lap and we read book after book, I can't help but give him tons of kisses. He's definitely stolen my heart and captured my love.

On a side note, I went to the doctor for my 12 week check-up and everything is normal and great. Looks like we're going to have another active child. This baby is already kicking and moving around. The ultrasound tech had a real hard time getting a good view of the baby. Maybe I'll get better pictures to post in 4 weeks. Yes that's right 4 weeks! I'm a "normal" pregnant lady this time (I don't have to go every 2 weeks like I did with Cole.) Praise God for all the good news.
