A Real Trooper

Cole went to the doctor today for his 2 month visit. He had to get 4 shots (2 in each thigh) and an oral vaccination. He was such a good boy, I thought I'd brag on him a little. He gulped down the oral medicine like it was candy. The nurse said that he was the first one she's seen that didn't spit it all out. As the nurse was giving him his first shot he grunted a little letting us know his discomfort but didn't cry. However, by the fourth shot he was pretty upset. I think he was telling us "ok you guys I'm not a pin cusion; cut it out; it hurts". He cried and cried until I picked him up from the examination table to comfort him. I was so proud of him. (I was even proud of myself for not crying.) I thanked God for answered prayers. The doctor checked his ability to control his head. He seemed impressed saying, "Wow, he has great head control" and "he sure is allert". Cole is average on all his other stats. He now weighs 10 lbs 12 oz, is 23-inches long and has a head circumference of 39 cm. (50% on all.) What more could we ask for. The doc may say he's average but he's Mommy and Daddy's little super star.

Tummy Time

Cole has been practicing for this day for quite some time now. I use to lay him on the floor or bed on his tummy and he would work on his neck muscles by attempting to lift his head. He would also try to get his knees under his body all the while grunting and letting me know how hard he was working. So, after all this training, I decided to pull out his tummy time mat and see how he liked it. He loved it. He's not reaching for any of the toys yet but he sure did enjoy looking around; getting a different view of things. I think he had his first laugh yesterday too. It wasn't prolonged laughing but he let out a squeal and was smiling at the time. It seems like he does something different/new every day. I can't wait to see what he'll do today. I just can't get enough of this little boy.

A week with Pa & Grammy.

Cole and I got to stay with my folks (Pa & Grammy) for a week this past week. It was great. We had lots of fun visiting with family and friends. Cole got spoiled with everyone holding him all of the time and oohing and ahhing over his every coo and smile. Donny got to join us on Friday for the weekend. Cole and I were so happy to see him. We missed him a lot over the few days we were away from home. Donny was well distracted during the week, thanks to friends and family.

It took us all morning to pack and load the car on Sunday. I never knew how much stuff you have to travel with when you have a little one. Cole was an angel on the way home. We only stopped once at about the half way point. Cole was getting restless and needed a diaper change. April (our dog) need to stretch her legs too. After a short stop, we got back on the road towards home. Cole really didn't sleep the whole way home. He watched the scenery fly by from the back window of my car. He is just developing into such a neat little person. I feel so blessed that God gave him to Donny and I. What a joy he is! We look forward to our next visit and hope that it is not too long from now. (Next time we're taking Daddy/Donny with us.) :)

Oldest & Youngest in 2008

While we were in San Antonio, Cole had many visitors including almost all of his second cousins. Miranda is Cole's eldest second cousin. She started kindergarten this year. She is a nurturer by nature and is a natural with babies. She has had some practice being big sister to Owen (soon to be 2 years on Valentine's Day). She rocked Cole to sleep while she held him. I don't know but I think I may have a baby sitter in the future. Cole sure did enjoy her visit. Thanks for visiting with us Miranda.

Visiting with Cousins

Cole got to meet some more of his second cousins. Emily (2 1/2 years old) held Cole and was so sweet to him. What a precious site. And Wyatt (21 months), Sammy (15 months) and Cody (7 months) came to show Cole how play time is done. They were so cute. Pretty soon Cole will be running around with them.

Got'cha

Cole is starting to smile more and more while he's awake. Today I finally caught him on film. He is so adorable and captures my heart every day. He also started his first job today. He's training to be an employee owner of Weston (the company I work for). He's starting in the marketing department. :) We make 'em start earning their keep early. (Just kidding).

Which one will Cole ride?

The weather is so nice this morning. Cole went out to the barn with Pa to meet all of the horses. His eyes got as big as shooter marbles when Yeller (the palomino) breathed on him. Cole attempted to reach out and touch Yeller's nose but then got scared and decided against it. So Pa took him down to the next stall to see Socks (the sorrel). Socks has been my horse since I was seven years old and is considered "the old man" since he's 23 years old. Pa put Cole on Sock's back to see what our little cowboy would do.....well, he screamed. After that Pa went to the pasture to tend to Ace (the blue roan) and Cole and I watched. Ace is not even 2 years old yet and is a bit mischievous. Anyhow, Cole enjoys the horses at a safe distance and I hope that one day he and I can enjoy ridding together.

Mr. Popular

Cole has had so many visitors already. He's Mr. Popular around here. One of his visitors was Benjamin, his second cousin who is 7 months old. I can't believe Cole will be at that stage in June. Not too far away. I hope time crawls. I want to enjoy every stage as long as I can. Thank you to all those that were able to come see him. (Thank you all who were sick who stayed away to protect him.) I appreciate your efforts.

Tuckered Out

Donny and I met my parents at the half way point yesterday so that Cole and I can spend the week visiting with family. (Thank you Love.) We already miss him and can't wait to see him on Friday. After the long trip Cole was so tired. He slept good last night and is already taking his morning nap. We love you Daddy. If the weather is nice we may just ride horses later today. Look for that post to come.

Tricia's Visit

We were so happy to have Tricia stay with us for a couple of days. (Thank you Paul. :) ) Cole truly enjoyed her company. He had his first mini giggle while Tricia was holding him and he is starting to hold onto his smiles longer now. He is even smiling more while he's awake. I just love his smile and his voice when he coos. I had my 6 week doctor's appointment today. All is good. The doctor says that I look like I'm doing very well but had some blood work done for further verification that I am healthy. I don't foresee anything being wrong; I feel great! Cole was such a patient boy while I was being examined. After all, who wouldn't be content when you have your loving cousin doting over you. Tricia was a huge blessing.

A Sunday visit with family.

Sunday was a pretty relaxing day. David, Rach, Lindsay and Brandon came to visit Cole. Rach made some of her famous crawfish etuffee and brought it over for lunch. It is such a treat to have home made Cajun cooking. Cole enjoyed letting Lindsay feed him his lunch and watched the game with Brandon. Our prince got the royal treatment.

Going on a Date

A date. Yes, the kind of event where you get dressed in decent clothes (nothing fancy because we're not fancy people) and get out of the house. Donny took Cole and I on our first date. We went to Papadeaux's and Babies-R-Us. When we got to the restaurant the hostess who sat us at the table asked if we wanted a "sling". I being a new parent did not know what a sling was so I told her that I really didn't know if we wanted one because I didn't know what it was. I guess I never really paid much attention to "baby" things when we didn't have one. It turns out that a sling is a device that you set your car seat/carrier in that will allow the baby to sit beside the table at the same height as the table. Pretty cool. We will be asking for a sling at all our favorite restaurants. We had such a great time on our date. Cole and I appreciate Donny's/Daddy's thoughtfulness. I think we'll go out with him again. ;)

Cole & Tyler

To mark Cole's 6 week birthday, Cole and I went to visit Tyler (8 months old) and Michelle this past Friday. It was our first outing that was over 15 minutes away. Cole was great. Once we got there we went on a long walk through Michelle's neighborhood. The weather was beautiful and the scenery was nice. We stopped at a play ground along the way where Tyler had a blast acting like Superman on his first swing ride. Cole slept the whole way. We are having so much fun.

Our little All Star

Cole is growing up so fast. Each day he seems to do something new. Every morning he has "mat" time where he plays under a little play mat that has hanging toys. Up until yesterday he would just look at the toys hanging inches away from his face and never attempt to touch them. Yesterday was a new day. He decided to reach out and give them a jolt. He hit one that jingled and thought that was so cool, he kept swinging his arms to hit others too. It only lasted a minute or two but it was really neat. He's working on his eye-hand coordination and is already our little All Star.

Cole & Jasmine

Our friends Jeremy & Marianne had their baby girl, Jasmine, just a couple of weeks after we had Cole. She is such a cutie. They came to visit us yesterday and I think it was the first time the two kiddos actually saw each other. The first time they met, their eyes were closed the whole time. Cole and I look forward to going to play-dates with Marianne and Jasmine very soon. Cole and Jasmine look like two peas in a pod in this picture.

What a blessing!

November 30,2007 was one of the best days of our lives. Donny and I got to finally meet our precious son, Cole. He was born a healthy 7lbs 11oz and 20 inches long. He is an answer to many prayers and a blessing from God. Since then we have enjoyed watching every expression he makes as he grows. He is now a month old and boy how the time has flown.
