We Survived

We all made it through my first week back to work (ok, it's not a full week but still) and Cole's first week in "school". I could not have made it without God carrying me through each day. Donny had to deal with a very emotional wife. He did a great job giving me lots of support. I'm not sure I've ever cried so much in my life. This week was by far the most difficult thing I've ever had to do. Cole seemed to adjust pretty easily, but by Thursday, he was ready for a day with just him and mommy (I was too). He loves his new teachers. He gives them smiles each morning when I drop him off (and doesn't even look at me). On his first day of school he scratched his cheek but that was the only battle scar he came out with for the whole week. On his second day of school they had school pictures. I was told he was a real ham. He likes having his picture taken. And on the third day of school they had a fire drill. This scared him (and all the other babies) half to death. Needless to say, he was crying when I picked him up from school that day. I can be very thankful that I only have to work Tuesday through Thursday. Cole and I get to have Mommy & Me time on Mondays and Fridays. Thank you Lord! I couldn't take much more time away from him. I just love Cole so much. He's my bud. Well, Cole and I are off to go early vote and do some grocery shopping. Chao.

First visit at PawPaw & Nanny's House

We went to visit with PawPaw and Nanny this weekend. Cole was such a good boy and soaked up all of the attention. Cole fished off the deck with Daddy and PawPaw. I guess they will have to wait for spring or summer to catch that "big one".

Cole also got to drive the boat (ok not really but he looks so cute behind the wheel.....minus the pink life vest....we're going to have to work on that.)

He enjoyed the fresh air and great conversation on the deck with Nanny.

With all the new things to experience he had his first real laugh this weekend when Donny was playing itsy-bitsy-spider with him. So cute. Cole lights up my heart with his smiles.

Hangin' Out with Teddy

Since it has been so nasty outside the past couple of days, Cole and I are getting our inside chores behind us. Cole sat on his big boy bed (a twin bed in his room that he will get to sleep in when he out grows his crib) and talked to me while I folded and put away his laundry. He was sitting there just taking in all in. I don't think he realized that he has so many teddy bears (six to be exact). I just thought he was so cute sitting there. He is such a joy to be with all day. Oh how I love this little boy.

Working Hard or Hardly Working?

Cole and I (and April) had a very busy day today. Cole started off his day by having tummy time with April. She is a great coach and is an expert at being on her tummy. I thought the two of them made quite the team. :)

After Cole's morning workout we had some time to talk before getting the rest of our day started. Each morning we talk about what we're going to be doing for the day. He is a little chatter box. I love talking with him; he holds a great conversation.

After lunch we decided to tackle our over-grown, weed infested flower bed. Cole was a very encouraging "Supervisor". While he sat under the shade of our oak tree and kicked his heels up, he let me know I was doing a great job and even pointed out any weeds I may have missed. With a couple more hours of work (and Daddy's help) we should have the task completed.

First Day in CBC Nursery

Cole went to the nursery at church yesterday for the very first time. I was so nervous but he did great. He didn't even miss me. (I was kind of sad about that.) The care givers were grandparent-esque so it was right up his alley. He got rocked, held, and got to ride in the swing. He is such a good boy; I just thought I'd brag on him a bit.

Valentine's Day Lunch

Today Cole and I met with Marianne, Jasmine and Anne for lunch at La'Madaline. It was so much fun. Jasmine showed up Hollywood style in the dress Cole gave her for Valentine's Day and her matching sun glasses. Such a cute little girl.

Our Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

We have the best little Valentine ever (a.k.a. The Cuteness).
We love him more and more everyday. We thought we'd share him with you.

Love to all.

'lil Longhorn

Cole hung out with Bevo today. Yes, he already has his very own stuffed Bevo. I saw it in a shop window as I walked to class every day my last semester at UT. I saved up the entire semester to buy that toy. I thought it was sooooo cute and had to have it. Anyhow I now pass it on to Cole. Since Donny and I are both University of Texas graduates we have high hopes that the tradition will carry on with our son. (I'm sure we'll be happy wherever he goes to college........as long as it's not that other school........unless he wants to do something in agriculture........maybe.)

Precious Gift

Cole is happy most of the time these days. He is now 10 weeks old and is finally getting the hang of sleeping through the night. (Praise God!) Cole spends his time talking, cooing, giggling and yes, crying. In the mornings I lay him on the bed and talk to him as he looks up at the ceiling fan. He loves fans; or anything that moves for that matter. Anyhow, as I was looking at him in profile I just thought to myself, "God created a perfect and gorgeous little boy for me to love". I am so thankful.

Lunch with Daddy

Yesterday Cole and I took lunch (Boudreaux's Cajun Kitchen) to Donny. It was great getting to visit him in the middle of the day; it really made our day special. Donny is such the proud Daddy. His face lit up when he saw us pull into the parking lot and his chest swelled with pride as he carried Cole inside the office. It is so neat to see him this way. Cole got to show off in front of all of Donny's coworkers and listen to everyone ooo and aahh over him. He soaked up the attention and even gave them some smiles. We had a good time.

Good Times

We went on a walk/jog around the lake yesterday. Cole is now enjoying these walks with his eyes open. He even let out a giggle yesterday when I started jogging with him. He must have thought his stroller transformed into a rocket with all the bumps (from the sidewalk) and it's sudden great speed (hahaha). Anyhow, that's when he smiled and giggled; which of course made me giggle and so I had to walk to catch my breath. :)

After Cole woke up from his afternoon nap (exhausted from his rocket ride) I put him on the floor and started talking to him (we always have at least two conversations a day; he love's it and so do I). Well this time I started singing to him (Donny is usually the one that sings to him. Cole loves his Daddy's voice). (Donny made up a song about Cole which makes Cole smile and coo. I'll let Donny tell you about that. It's a little Father-Son kind of song. Ah, boys.) I'm by no means a singer but he seems to think that I am. I'll do anything to make this little boy smile.

Praise God! Cole slept through the night again. I'm so thankful. Small mircales; huge blessings.

A Weekend of Firsts

This weekend was full of "firsts" for Cole. He slept his first full night (9pm-6:45am). At first I was a little nervous with him sleeping so long all at one time but now I cherish that night and wonder if it will ever happen again. I can only pray it will.

Cole also had his first day at our church. He was awake the entire time and never made a sound. I was so thankful and proud. When Cole was in the whomb he was always so active when we were in church (any church). I think he liked the loud music.

Yesterday was our first day to go to the grocery store together. It was quite the experience. I strapped on the carrier and put him in it. He slept the entire time and woke up only as we were checking out. We got lots of looks; I guess people aren't use to seeing a baby stapped onto their mommy while shopping. (Hey, I needed the cart space.) :) One lady even stopped us so that she could look at my little cutie. He's so fun to be with; even in those 2am and 4am middle of the night meetings. I love this little boy more than anything.

On a Roll

Cole is on a roll. He woke up this morning for his 6am feeding (like usual) but instead of putting him back to bed immediately after his feeding I thought I'd lay him on our bed for some morning conversation with Mommy and Daddy. (I welcomed his eye contact and smiles since he wouldn't even look at me yesterday after getting his shots.) Cole decided to give us an extra gift this morning. He rolled onto his belly from his back. He started off on his back, then rolled onto his side. He stayed on his side for a little bit and then hiked his knee up and over causing the rest of his body to follow. He tried to get his knees under his body as if trying to crawl. After a few seconds of this I helped him back on his back. I am so impressed by this little boy. He is such an amazing gift from God.
