The Skinny on Leah

I had my seven month check-up with the doctor yesterday. Everything seems to be going great and "normal" so far. Praise God! Leah is a mover and a shaker; making it really hard to rest these days (day, night, it makes no difference). It is such a blessing to feel her wiggle; I know I will miss this one day (like I did with Cole). Anyhow, I'm on the two week schedule now so I get to see the doc twice a month. I get my next ultrasound at the eight month appointment. I will be sure to post those pics then.

Until then, Leah's due date is November 4, 2009.

A Ray of Light Through the Darkness

The last few weeks have been a little rough for our family. It seems like we are getting hit with "bad" things at every turn. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about; these times come in cycles throughout life. We just happen to be in the middle of one right now. The good news is that it looks like we might be on our way out of the crazy cycle. Yay!

Sunday was another one of those days. Cole and I tried to go to church while we let Donny rest at home with his foot elevated (he broke his right heel bone about a week ago). We got off to a good start, had a decent breakfast, made it to church on time and found Cole's new class (he moved up to the next nursery). Everything was going smoothly. I sat down in church, made it through the first three songs and then my cell phone rings. It is the nursery coordinator calling me to come get my son. My sweet angel. I thought something terrible had happened. Afterall, we'd NEVER gotten a call from the nursery before. The thoughts running through my head were: Did he hurt himself? Did he hurt someone else? etc. I gathered up my things and left the church service to go see what the problem was. The nursery coordinator met me at the door of Cole's classroom and began to tell me that I had to take my son out of class because he had a runny nose. Not only was it a runny nose; the mucus had a slight yellow tint to it. (GASP!) He has no fever mind you, nor has he had one in months. I listened to her talk about the upcoming flu season and the swine flu...yada yada yada. I smiled, nodded, and attempted to take my son into church service with me. We sat in the back hoping not to be a distraction to anyone. We failed. When the songs were over and the pastor started to talk all you could hear was my sweet boy saying, "Be Quiet!" very loudly over and over again. I tried to distract him with crayons. You then heard, "ORANGE!, BLUE!". I thought to myself, "I only have one more trick up my Mommy sleeve and if this doesn't work, I don't know what I'm going to do." I reached into his bag and pulled out his snack. After eating a couple of goldfish and drinking his water he decided to let the whole church know how many goldfish he was eating, "One goldfish", "Two goldfish", "uh oh Mommy, dropped it." People were turning around in their seats and all I could see were hundreds of eyes looking at me. Needless to say, I grabbed up our things and took Cole home. I don't know if this bothered me so much because I was embarrassed or because it took me 30 minutes to get to church to only turn right back around and go home, or what but I choked back the tears all the way to my car. It was just another one of those days, I thought.

Anyhow, I needed some change. Some fun. A distraction. Donny agreed to accompany Cole and I to the park in our neighborhood and take us out for lunch. I'm so glad. After much prayer and My Love's little act of kindness my whole mood has changed. I am now able to see things in a new light. I am now free to be happy. Today is a much better day. Thank you, Love.

Children's Museum

My sweet friend, Tiffany, took Cole and I to the Children's Museum today. There was plenty to do to keep my active little one busy. He had a blast! Thanks Tiffany!

The ball shoot. I think Cole played at this station for 15 minutes.
Cole and Jonathan playing at the Lego table.

Cole and Samuel at the train table.

Lots of tops to spin with different patterns.

Yay! It's parachute time! Cole was a little reserved at first but caught onto the idea very quickly. He loved it!

Just look at my little adventurist go!

Cole loved beating on these hand made drums from Mexico.

Oh and the fish tank was a big hit too. He spent nearly 10 minutes taking in all the different types of fish. He made sure to point each one out to me. ("Mommy, look!") I just love to see the world through his eyes. It's awesome!

Blue Bell

Cole, Tay-Tay and I went to the Blue Bell creamery this morning. It was a little bit of a car ride but well worth the experience...and ice cream. During the tour, Cole seemed to appreciate all that was going on. He was even able to point out the "lids" of the containers.

My favorite "ham" in the back seat. He just melts my heart.

Tay-Tay and Cole.

The line between fantasy and reality is a thin one for a toddler.

Just too cute not to share. I just LOVE this boy!

Cole just couldn't get his mind off of the tasty ice cream. He thought he'd give his toes a try. Eeewwwhhaaa.

Baby Update

I had an ultrasound and doctor's appointment this morning. Cole and Tay-Tay got to go with me. They were able to see our sweet baby girl during the ultrasound and then played in the waiting room while I spoke to the doctor. Cole made a new friend, Peyton, and got to listen to the "Elephant Song" (probably at least 10 times). He LOVES the Elephant Song and requests it constantly.

Donny and I finally came up with a name for our sweet girl; Leah Patricia Boudreaux. During the ultrasound Cole kept saying "Baby Leah" when she would appear on the screen. It was really cute. Leah is doing great! She is growing strong and weighs about 1lb. 15oz. All is going well. Praise God!
I think we're all getting pretty excited about meeting this little girl. Only 3 months to go.....

Circus

Thanks to Aunt Nell and Tay-Tay we all got to enjoy an evening of circus fun. I don't remember the last time I went to a circus; probably when I was Cole's age, so it was a lot of fun for all of us.

Tay-Tay and Cole before the big show.

Ooooo cotton candy and Aunt Nell! Needless to say, Cole was on a sugar high the rest of the day. He LOVES cotton candy. It's only second to his Auntie.

The real clowns. (The ones in the costumes; not us.)

The most memorable times were seeing Cole's face and his reaction to each act. Priceless.

Flying acrobats.

Cole was in such awe over all the incredibly dangerous stunts. I really hope he doesn't want to try these things at home.

My little ponies....one of my favorite parts.

This is the stunt that made me hold my breath the entire time. Seven bikes in a tiny ball going round and round. Yikes!

One of my favorite memories.....I just love seeing Cole and his Daddy play. One of life's sweetest things.

Sea World

We celebrated my Grandmother's 80th birthday by throwing her a party on Saturday. It was nice to see the entire family all at one time. All of my cousin's kiddos are about the same age as Cole so he always has a great time running around with them. Sunday was a "relax" day. We went to church with my folks. It is the same church I went to when I was a kid. Although most things have changed (the pastor, some new people, etc...), I did get to see many of the "old-timers" that were there when I was a child. It was nice to get to visit with them.

Monday, we went to Sea World. Although it was a hot day, there were plenty of places to get in the shade. Cole had no idea what he was in store for. Our first stop; the dolphin exhibit.

My Love, Cole and Pa got some fish and fed the dolphins. Of course Cole was super excited and wanted to touch the dolphin.

Cole was amazed by all the different fish and sting rays. He even loved the sharks. I'm just glad there was a very large piece of glass between me and them.

The first show we saw was the Otter and Sea Lion show. Cole watched intently as the story unfolded.

(I think this guy has gotten bigger since the last time I saw him.)

After lunch we headed to the penguin exhibit and walked My Love over to "The Great White". Then we headed off to the next show. Viva.

Cole was captured by all the acrobats and divers. He clapped a lot during this one. It was truly amazing and entertaining, probably my favorite show of all.

Last but not least we went to see Shamu in the show, Believe. It was a good show, Cole seemed to really enjoy it. Shamu did all of his usual tricks.

That ended our trip to Sea World. It was a hot, long day but worth every minute. It is so neat to see the world through your child's eyes. Their since of innocence, wonder and amazement is just awesome. Cole is awesome!
