Pink or Blue?

Today we had our ultrasound and doctor's visit that told us the gender of Baby Bou2. Cole is already aware that he's a big brother and that Mommy has a baby in her stomach. While we went to the doctor's appointment Cole got to stay with Marianne and play with Jasmine. When we got back, Daddy shared the news with Cole.

Cole took it all in and seemed to understand what we were saying.

I think he's still not quite sure what to think about having a baby sister.

But in the end, I know he'll be a great big brother and will adore his baby sister. We are so very blessed.

Road Trip

Marianne, Jasmine, Cole and I took a mini-road trip last week. We packed up the car and headed for my parent's place for a few days. (Thank you Love!....and Jeremy for giving up Marianne and Jazzy for a few days.) We had a blast! You know there's really not all that much going on when we go see my folks but we get to slow down and enjoy the little things in life. It's so refreshing.

Things like:

Watching the kiddos play in the sandbox.

Watching Cole and Pa "speed" down the driveway on the lawnmower.

Taking time to walk out in the pasture to "visit" the horses. Cole LOVES the horses (and cows).

Letting Cole sit on his horses' back while he gazes across the field finding the cows and makes Mooo sounds. (His Daddy is very uneasy about me letting him do this.)

Taking the kiddos on a wagon ride up and down the driveway.

Watching Pa read to Cole. (One of the sweetest things to me.)

Taking pictures of my most favorite subject while he is enjoying pretending to ride his horse on the saddle that was his Mommy's and will one day be his first saddle.
Ahh, the little things in life. I just love 'em.

Amen

Cole - 18 months

In the Boudreaux household we usually say a short prayer of thanks before eating each meal. (We do this while holding hands with whoever is at the table.) The other day my niece (Taylor), Cole and I went out to lunch to a local pizzeria. We waited 30 minutes for our pizza (well worth it by the way, the pizza was awesome). Needless to say we were all so hungry by the time the pizza got to our table that we all just dove right in. I cut up Cole's slice, sat it in front of him and started to take a bite of my own slice.
Cole looked up at me with his arms stretched out toward me and Taylor and said, "Mommy, Amen. Amen, Mommy." He knew we had forgotten to say our blessings. At that moment I was so humbled. It is amazing how God uses my young son to teach and remind me of things. I will not forget that moment at that table for the rest of my life.

Pool Days

Cole and Tay-Tay played in Cole's little splash pool in the backyard yesterday. (He and I play in that pool quite often lately since it is so hot.) Cole had so much fun with Tay-Tay.

She made the water rain down on his head and he would squeal and grab her legs because he was so excited. It was the cutest thing ever.

She also blew bubbles for Cole and he ran through them trying to pop each one while giggling the entire time.

We attempted to meet up with Marianne and Jasmine to go swimming in their neighborhood pool but we had no luck. (Our (Marianne and I) curse is carrying over from last summer. Last summer every time we tried to go swimming something stood in our way, ie. pool hours, weather, etc.) So instead of going swimming, we just let the two kiddos play at Marianne's house. It was still loads of fun. Maybe we'll get to go swimming next time. Hahaha :)

You are my Sunshine...

my only sunshine, you make me ha-pp-eeey when skies are gray; you'll never know dear how much I love you.....

Ok, no seriously. We have the privilege of having our niece, Taylor, (a.k.a. Tay-Tay for Cole) with us for a few days. We are having so much fun. Today we took some time to admire the ginormous sunflowers that have grown in our garden. (Sunflowers are the only thing that have grown in our garden this year, but they are beautiful.)

18 months

Cole had his 18 month check up today. Lucky for him (and me) there were no shots this time. Yay! He was such a big boy. They no longer have to weigh him or measure him on the baby scale. He stood on their regular scale and stood very still (if you can imagine that) against the wall for his height measurement. He was well behaved the entire time. I was so proud of him!

Cole's 18 month stats:
Weight = 27 lbs. (60%)
Height = 35 3/4 in. (<97%)
Head Circumference = 44 cm. (75%)
He's growing up too fast (for Mommy), but he is so much fun. I can't wait to see what he's up to at two. :)

Sprinkler

Since it's been getting warmer in the afternoons, Cole has been playing with water in our back yard. Sometimes it's his mini-pool, sometimes it just the water hose and sometimes it's a sprinkler. He loves them all.

He starts out by just looking at the sprinkler; sizing it up if you will.

He tests the water temperature.

Then he gets a little closer letting the water rain down on him.

Then he runs as fast as he can out of the sprinkler and toward Mommy. (It turns into a game.)

After he's gotten use to the water, he picks up the sprinkler and brings it to Mommy. Mommy runs because she's not dressed to get wet. Cole laughs, drops the sprinkler and runs to Mommy to give a huge wet hug. I gotta say, I love this game.
